Dr. Brian Hammer Lab - to study the role of bacterial cell-cell communication, or quorum sensing, in the aquatic pathogen Vibrio cholerae. Research in the Hammer lab focuses on the intersection of microbial ecology and microbial pathogenesis. Specifically, we employ molecular biology, biochemistry, proteomics, and bioinformatics to understand the mechanisms for quorum sensing control of behaviors required for successful environmental survival and for human virulence.
