SERVICES

All interdepartmental services can be paid for by completing an interdepartmental sales form and can be downloaded here. College of Science users can use the web-based system found at under the M&S link at cosfinance.gatech.edu

Supplies:

The Genome Center stocks most of the reagents needed for sample preparation and analysis and are available for purchase at discount. We currently have on site access to:

Applied Biosystems - qPCR reagents, PCR reagents, Nucleic Acid Sample Preparations, Chemiluminescence, DNA Sequencing and Genotyping

Bio-Rad - Protein and Nucleic Acid Preparation and Separation supplies, Protein and Nucleic Acid Stains, Molecular Weight Markers

Perkin Elmer - Microarray substrates, labeling kits.

Sample Submission:

DNA sequencing and fragment analysis:

We use the ABI BigDye v3.1 Terminator in the sequencing reactions and view the products on the ABI 3130 for 750-800-bp yields or the ABI 3100 for shorter fragments.

For fragment analysis you can run your PCR reactions, single or multiplexed, and send 10ul of these in PCR strip tubes.  We will provide the plate, add your sample in formamaide, and the size standard, denature and run the sample, on the ABI 3130 or 3100 Genetic Analyzer.  We can send you the results or we can analyze the data on Genemapper and provide you with the raw and processed data in Excel or Genepop format.

Data are e-mailed 2 to 3 working days after the samples have been received.

Please download the form and present it with sample.

Sample preparation and Submission Process

Microarray:Please submit print samples in the 96 or 384 well plate format.

Slides for scanning should be submitted in a standard microscopy slide container and clearly marked on the lowest portion of the slide. Barcodes work best.

Other sequencing related service prices

Species Identification: (based on previously available public sequences) Service Includes: DNA Extraction from small sample, Amplification (primer provided by customer), PCR product gel purification and sequencing of both strands of DNA.  Small sample from muscle, liver, or fin clips can be sent frozen or in 90% alcohol.

PhosphoImager: For radioactivity scanning of membrane exposures, the phosphoimager requires a magnetic exposure sheet. Exposure sheets that are bound to the inside of cassettes will not work.

qPCR:
The 7000 system accepts samples in the 0.2mL individual tube, 8-strip, and non/semi skirted plate formats. The top caps must be of optical grade plastic. We use ABI 8-strip tubes and caps p/n 4316567 (tubes) and 4323032 (caps).
