Dr. Sara Thomas wins VWR Postdoctoral Award
Atlanta (October 29, 2009) — Dr. Sara Thomas, a postdoctoral researcher in Meghan Duffy’s lab, has been named the inaugural winner of the VWR Postdoctoral Award for Scientific Excellence in Experimental Biology. A faculty awards committee selected Dr. Thomas on the strength of her submitted paper, “Diversity and Distribution of Anaeromyxobacter Strains in a Uranium- Contaminated Subsurface Environment with a Nonuniform Groundwater Flow", which was published in Applied and Environmental Microbiology in 2009. This work was completed while Dr. Thomas was a graduate student in the lab of Frank Loeffler. Dr. Thomas will present her findings during a seminar to the School of Biology community on November 19th.
