Scientific Diving Program
The scientific diving program at Georgia Tech is run through the University System of Georgia’s Scientific Diving Program which is an organizational member of the American Academy of Underwater Sciences. All scientific diving by or under the direction of GT researchers must comply with the University System of Georgia’s scientific Diving standards. These standards are laid out in the USG Diving Manual.
The Georgia Tech Scientific diving program is open to any faculty, staff and students engaged in technical, academic diving. Anyone who is engaged in diving as part of their research must be an active member of an academic scientific diving program or be subject to US Federal OSHA standards for diving. The diving program exists for this reason.
